Fourth Rotary Peace Forum at Hilbert set for June 13

rotaryOpening Avenues to Create a Culture of Peace, the fourth Rotary Peace Forum, will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 13, 2013, in 101 Bogel Hall, Hilbert College in Hamburg, New York.

Panelists will include:
John R. Boronkay, Ed.D., Project Facilitator and Author of the Peace through Understanding Forums District Simplified Grant Application, who will speak on “Avenues Opened.”

Sr. Jean Klimczak, OSF, Franciscan Sister of Jesus, Board Member of the Peaceprint Prison Ministries and the SSJ Sister Karen Center for Nonviolence, who will offer personal reflection.

Victoria Ross, QCSW, LMSW, MALD, of the Interfaith Peace Network, the Peace Education Project, and the WNY Peace Center, who will speak on conflict resolution.

The speakers will offer answers to some important questions: How can citizens create a greater peace in their communities?  How can Rotary help that?  Promote peaceful conflict resolution in our civic, business, and personal relationships?  Develop an atmosphere of peace in our immediate and extended environment?  What does it really mean to build avenues to peace by starting with an inward inventory of yourself?  What does it matter?  Can we do therapy with everyone we meet and bring them to peace, however momentary?

The moderator of our peace forums is Paul Peck, who has been the radio play-by-play voice of Buffalo Bulls football.

This Peace through Understanding initiative is sponsored by Rotary District 7090, which includes the Southtowns Rotary Clubs of East Aurora, Hamburg, Hamburg Sunrise, Orchard Park, South Shore, and West Seneca; it is sponsored by Hilbert College, as well as the Western New York Peace Center, Interfaith Peace Network, and Peace Education Project.
